Kygo donates $30,000 in aid of mental health awareness for World Suicide Prevention Day

September 10 is the date for World Suicide Day and this year, in light of the lives lost this year to mental illness in the celebrity world alone, internationally acclaimed DJ/producer Kygo chose to donate a generous $30,000 to American NGO To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA). Just this year the EDM world lost one of the greatest producers of this century, Avicii, who took his own life in April, and it is now more than ever that transparency and support when it comes to depression, anxiety and mental illness in general, are paramount to ensuring the safety of those suffering.

Kygo is by no means the only one working towards this cause, but every person’s help in this regard is appreciated greatly. It is also so important that those suffering see support from musicians and celebrities in the public eye, so that the shame of asking for help can hopefully be erased bit by bit and so that those in need can know that they are not alone. The NGO that Kygo donated to, TWLOHA aims to present hope for people struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury and thoughts of suicide while also investing directly into treatment and recovery.
