Wallace releases new single 'Black Lake'

By Alex Brown - 11.10.17

As she approaches the release of her debut EP Pole to Pole and following the release of single ‘Diaspora’ Wallace has shared ‘Black Lake’.

The Jazz trained singer has garnered significant attention despite only having released 5 singles thus far. She has worked with Thundamentals, Kite String Triangle, Sampa the Great and producer Simon Cohen and won the JJJ unearthed Listen Out slot for Sydney.

‘Black Lake’ has been co-written with Joel Quartermain and tells the sad story of unrequited love. Wallace thrives beyond her comfort zone with this dark themed love song. Her unique voice gently sits on the instrumentals as she delivers intense lyrics.

She says of the track: "'Black Lake' attempts to capture the thoughts of someone who is in love and ready to commit to a person who isn't. After finishing the tune, I was re-watching one of my favourite comedies, The Mighty Boosh, and realised with all the water imagery we'd weaved into our story, we'd accidentally written the song from the point of view of Old Gregg. We hadn't landed on a title at this point so I suggested Black Lake, the home of the Baileys-drinking, watercolour-painting man himself."

Her EP is due to be released 13 October and is followed with her Australian tour on the same day.
