New track from Kaixen 'In Private ft. MRKI'

By Alex Brown - 14.9.17

After garnering substantial support from tastemaker publications such as BBC 1xtra’s Jamz Supernova, Dancing Astronaut, The Fader, Run The Trap, Clash, Data Transmission, and Indie Shuffle with his previous release ‘Brand New’ feat Twelve'Len,’  Miami-born Kaixen will be releasing his next single 'In Private ft. MRKI' tomorrow. The tracks are taken from his upcoming album Pecado, set to drop on 13th October via Lush records.

"In Private is a song about feeling taken for granted; a point of view I think we've all experienced." he says.  "I feel like a lot of my friends and I have been in a "let's not tell anyone about this but we should keep messing around" situation, especially being out and about in the Miami night life, things can get a little out of control sometimes."

The single is well suited to the collaboration with Miami's MKRI (taken from the greek word meraki - an untranslatable Greek word meaning to do something with all your heart and complete devotion.) The pair have collaborated before on 2016's 'Only One,' another soulful serenade.

Born Julian Munro, Kaixen truly dedicated himself to his decision to pursue music, even forfeiting a full scholarship to the University of Miami to do so. He has since worked closely with some major industry names including Denzel Curry's collective C9, and artists such as J.K. The Reaper, Twelve'Len, S dot Braddy & Nell and laid claim to the stages of III Points Music Festival and Okeechobee Music Festival with the  likes of Crywolf, Sango and Tim Gunter,  Joan Jett and Two Door Cinema Club.

When asked about his influences, Kaixen cites the likes of Diplo, SBTRKT, The XX, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, NAO, and The Soulection Crew. However, he adds that his taste is ever-evolving and often based on tracks rather than artists. It is this eclectic approach to music that has resulted in his unique sound, making Kaixen an artist on the rise and certainly one to watch in the future.
