Cristobal Cortes, aka Das mörtal has released the new single “Midnight Rendez-Vous (Feat. French Fox)” from his upcoming album Always Loved, set to be released on June 9th via Lisbon Lux Records.
The quirky Canadian producer has been garnering attention in both the synthwave and techno scenes, and has already shared stages with the likes of Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, Gost, Danger, Dan Terminus, Tommy’86 and Le Matos.
“Midnight Rendezvous” features acclaimed producer French Fox of Lisbon Lux Records, and is a club-ready track with an edgy, playful appeal. As a precursor to the upcoming album, this track is just another indication of why Das mörtal is being cited as “one of the planet’s hottest synthwave prodigies” and the highly anticipated album is sure to once again endear him to fans and critics alike.
“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” – George Orwell.
This is the supporting quote that recapitulates Tube & Berger’s new politically charged single ‘International Corporate Motherfuckers,’ taken from their upcoming album We Are All Stars, which will be released on May 19th via Embassy One.
The press release for this track sums it up beautifully: “A seven minute number squarely aimed at both the dance floor and the politicians, investment bankers, businesses, large pharmaceuticals, lobbyists etc, that are simply messing it up for the rest of us and as such, is a much needed response to the current global crises from the otherwise supine dance scene.”
The revenues from this single are all being donated to children’s charity ‘IT BEGAN IN AFRICA’ – a testament to Tube & Berger’s commitment to their cause. Of the single, the duo aptly state:
“There was a time when music artists spoke truth to power, it was kind of our job, but it seems those days are over, nobody says anything about anything to anybody and especially in the dance scene. Well, in these times of trouble, we are as mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore! Our lawyers told us we cannot explicitly name and shame those responsible – but we all know who they are. So, are you with us or against us? Do you also feel it is time that us dance people made our feelings known? If you do, you know what to do. Be part of The solution, not the Problem.”
Now comes the release of their full album, We Are All Stars, a twelve track collection which features an array of collaborations including post-punk band White Lies, Richard Judge, and Kyle Pearce. Described as their most accomplished work to date, this high profile project once again affirms the reputation of Arndt Rörig and Marco Vidoviz, AKA Tube & Berger as “a prominent and respected name within the international underground house music scene for over a decade.”

From South London come the quirky punk outfit, Shame. While they are best known for their critically acclaimed live shows, they have decided to expand into film, by releasing a music video for their single, “Tasteless.”
The music video takes a meta approach by being a video of a man watching a video of Shame performing ‘Tasteless”, in the live show format which is characteristic of punk rock music videos. However the world of the man and of the band collide by using a literal interpretation of ‘breaking the fourth wall’.
Shame have also embarked on a full headline UK and European tour. You can see them live on the following dates:
Born Matthew Pena, Texas-based musician -and producer, Frythm, has announced that his new track, “Breakthrough (feat. Rome Fortune)” drops 19 May 2017 via SoulxNature.
“Breakthrough (feat. Rome Fortune)” uses modular-sounding keyboard harmonies, textured layers, and Rome Fortune’s low-pitched vocals to create a track that is soulful and mesmerizing. When asked about the writing process of this future beats track, Frythm replied, “I wrote this beat when I was going through some very tough times mentally so everything came out so raw and organic.”
Catch Frythm performing live at the Neon Desert Music Festival in El Paso from 27 to 29 May 2017. Listen to “Breakthrough (feat. Rome Fortune)” below:
Ugandan- born, UK- based minimal electro-folk artist, Daudi Matsiko, has released the single “Houston in the Blind” off his upcoming double EP, An Introduction to Failure, which will be released via Naim Records on 26 May 2017.
Through the use of mellow fingerpicking of his guitar, gentle vocals, and raw lyrics; Matsiko creates a track that sounds like you are listening to him performing live in the very room you’re in. He chooses to add synths to his tracks, which revolutionise the electro genre, by producing tracks that have a heavy folk influence.
If “Houston in the Blind” is a representative for An Introduction to Failure as a whole, then the album will be (contrary to what the title suggests) a huge success. You can catch him live on the day of the album’s release at The Slaughtered Lamb in London.
