If ringing strings, pop vocals and future bass chops are your thing, want to find the play button right about now. Seasoned musicians Fancy Cars have released “Set Me On Fire”, the electronic pop production that’s already gathered support from YourEDM, The Music Ninja, Hillydilly and Purple Sneakers.
Formerly the solo outfit of veteran producer Alan Notkin, Fancy Cars officially adopted featured vocalist Brandon Hall for this latest release. The veteran producers Alan Notkin and Brandon Hall have flitted between vocalists on a track-by-track basis. Alan has been producing for various electronic music projects and bands for the past ten years while Brandon has previously worked as an engineer and producer with Avril Lavigne and Christina Perri, for which he received two RIAA Platinum Awards.
Hall’s gentle yet passionate R&B vocal opens the track with a melancholic piano accompaniment, quickly establishing his wide range and earnest delivery. “Set Me On Fire” builds to its first drop with a melodic vocal cut-up, quickly progressing through waves of scattershot, trap-influenced high end towards the final drop and outro. Careful listening will also reveal a recording of fire sounds as the track winds down, so reminiscent of the end of an epic evening.
"Set Me On Fire" is one of the first tracks that Brandon Hall and I worked on together,” says Notkin. It was really one of the defining tracks that made us realize how well we worked together.”

Brian Eno has announced the release of iPhone and Apple TV apps to complete the experience of his upcoming ambient album, "Reflection".
"Reflection", sequel to April 2016 release "The Ship" will be released on January 1 in app form in addition to standard digital and vinyl formats.
According to Eno's camp, the applications serve to reflect decades-long work in music, visual, and generative arts. Long-time collaborator Peter Chilvers was involved in the creation, which features generative sonics and imagery. The project is considered an extension of "77 Million Paintings" and "The Ship," two of Eno's previous software projects.
Brian Eno says:
“Reflection is the most recent of my ambient experiments and represents the most sophisticated of them so far. My original intention with ambient music was to make endless music, music that would be there as long as you wanted it to be. I wanted also that this music would unfold differently all the time—‘like sitting by a river’: it’s always the same river, but it’s always changing. But recordings—whether vinyl, cassette or CD —are limited in length, and replay identically each time you listen to them. So in the past I was limited to making the systems which make the music, but then recording 30 minutes or an hour and releasing that. Reflection in its album form—on vinyl or CD—is like this. But the app by which Reflection is produced is not restricted: it creates an endless and endlessly changing version of the piece of music.
"The creation of a piece of music like this falls into three stages: the first is the selection of sonic materials and a musical mode—a constellation of musical relationships. These are then patterned and explored by a system of algorithms which vary and permutate the initial elements I feed into them, resulting in a constantly morphing stream (or river) of music. The third stage is listening. Once I have the system up and running I spend a long time—many days and weeks in fact—seeing what it does and fine-tuning the materials and sets of rules that run the algorithms. It’s a lot like gardening: you plant the seeds and then you keep tending to them until you get a garden you like.”
Peter Chilvers states:
“Moving the composition into software allowed an extra opportunity; the rules themselves could change with the time of day. The harmony is brighter in the morning, transitioning gradually over the afternoon to reach the original key by evening. As the early hours draw in, newly introduced conditions thin the notes out and slow everything down.”
Reflection will be released January 1st on Warp Records.
Listen: Mr Fijiwiji Remix of “Fortress” from Illenium’s “Ashes Remixes”
By Alex Brown - 20.12.16
After honing his skills in the bass music sphere, Illenium has gone on to remix Kaskade, Odesza and Galantis and has performed at Red Rocks himself. Shortly after releasing his debut album ‘Ashes’, in early 2016, Illenium’s “Fortress (ft Joni Fatora)” went viral on Spotify.
“Fortress” was quickly handed to Mr Fijiwiji for remix duties. Mr Fijiwiji is the pseudonum of paper headbag-obsessed Brendan Galdo. His slow, ethereal take on the track is a bold deviation from what fans of EDM might put at the top of their playlist, but lives and breathes with its own clicky, snappy energy and must-have vocal pitching regardless. An album closer if ever there was one.

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/illeniummusic/Following its closure by authorities earlier this year, the London dance music institution has just released an impressive string of line-ups to mark its re-opening. The dates feature sets by heavy hitters like Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler, Carl Craig and Bicep. The club’s staple Fabriclive series, which mostly focuses on the freshest grime, will now only take place on the final Friday of each month, leaving room for new events. The club’s owners say that a “new series of one-off standout shows and curated events” will fill up the free dates.
Saturdays are set to continue much in the same style as they always have: with a focus on drum’n’bass and techno oriented bookings. Similarly, the long-running WetYourSelf! parties will remain on the regular Sunday slot.

Berlin-based electronica label !K7 is set to launch a new sub-label in the new year. German electronic trio Brandt Brauer Frick will act as flagship act of the new 7K! label, which will serve as an umbrella for all projects within the neo-classical genre.
Since before the contemporary classical movement even had a name, !K7 has spearheaded the neo-classical genre with its innovative collection of eclectic music.
Italian composer and string arranger Luca D’Alberto has also been taken on board. 7K! will begin releasing music in the first quarter of 2017 with the multi-instrumentalist's album "Endless".
"Endless" was produced by Henrik Schwarz and Martyn Heyne, whose previous collaborators include Nils Frahm, Lubomir Melnyk, Peter Broderick, Tiny Ruins, and The National. Pre-releases of the tracks "Wait For Me" and "Blessed Messenger," are available now.
