If ringing strings, pop vocals and future bass chops are your thing, want to find the play button right about now. Seasoned musicians Fancy Cars have released “Set Me On Fire”, the electronic pop production that’s already gathered support from YourEDM, The Music Ninja, Hillydilly and Purple Sneakers.
Formerly the solo outfit of veteran producer Alan Notkin, Fancy Cars officially adopted featured vocalist Brandon Hall for this latest release. The veteran producers Alan Notkin and Brandon Hall have flitted between vocalists on a track-by-track basis. Alan has been producing for various electronic music projects and bands for the past ten years while Brandon has previously worked as an engineer and producer with Avril Lavigne and Christina Perri, for which he received two RIAA Platinum Awards.
Hall’s gentle yet passionate R&B vocal opens the track with a melancholic piano accompaniment, quickly establishing his wide range and earnest delivery. “Set Me On Fire” builds to its first drop with a melodic vocal cut-up, quickly progressing through waves of scattershot, trap-influenced high end towards the final drop and outro. Careful listening will also reveal a recording of fire sounds as the track winds down, so reminiscent of the end of an epic evening.
"Set Me On Fire" is one of the first tracks that Brandon Hall and I worked on together,” says Notkin. It was really one of the defining tracks that made us realize how well we worked together.”

Brian Eno has announced the release of iPhone and Apple TV apps to complete the experience of his upcoming ambient album, "Reflection".
"Reflection", sequel to April 2016 release "The Ship" will be released on January 1 in app form in addition to standard digital and vinyl formats.
According to Eno's camp, the applications serve to reflect decades-long work in music, visual, and generative arts. Long-time collaborator Peter Chilvers was involved in the creation, which features generative sonics and imagery. The project is considered an extension of "77 Million Paintings" and "The Ship," two of Eno's previous software projects.
Brian Eno says:
“Reflection is the most recent of my ambient experiments and represents the most sophisticated of them so far. My original intention with ambient music was to make endless music, music that would be there as long as you wanted it to be. I wanted also that this music would unfold differently all the time—‘like sitting by a river’: it’s always the same river, but it’s always changing. But recordings—whether vinyl, cassette or CD —are limited in length, and replay identically each time you listen to them. So in the past I was limited to making the systems which make the music, but then recording 30 minutes or an hour and releasing that. Reflection in its album form—on vinyl or CD—is like this. But the app by which Reflection is produced is not restricted: it creates an endless and endlessly changing version of the piece of music.
"The creation of a piece of music like this falls into three stages: the first is the selection of sonic materials and a musical mode—a constellation of musical relationships. These are then patterned and explored by a system of algorithms which vary and permutate the initial elements I feed into them, resulting in a constantly morphing stream (or river) of music. The third stage is listening. Once I have the system up and running I spend a long time—many days and weeks in fact—seeing what it does and fine-tuning the materials and sets of rules that run the algorithms. It’s a lot like gardening: you plant the seeds and then you keep tending to them until you get a garden you like.”
Peter Chilvers states:
“Moving the composition into software allowed an extra opportunity; the rules themselves could change with the time of day. The harmony is brighter in the morning, transitioning gradually over the afternoon to reach the original key by evening. As the early hours draw in, newly introduced conditions thin the notes out and slow everything down.”
Reflection will be released January 1st on Warp Records.
Listen: Mr Fijiwiji Remix of “Fortress” from Illenium’s “Ashes Remixes”
By Alex Brown - 20.12.16
After honing his skills in the bass music sphere, Illenium has gone on to remix Kaskade, Odesza and Galantis and has performed at Red Rocks himself. Shortly after releasing his debut album ‘Ashes’, in early 2016, Illenium’s “Fortress (ft Joni Fatora)” went viral on Spotify.
“Fortress” was quickly handed to Mr Fijiwiji for remix duties. Mr Fijiwiji is the pseudonum of paper headbag-obsessed Brendan Galdo. His slow, ethereal take on the track is a bold deviation from what fans of EDM might put at the top of their playlist, but lives and breathes with its own clicky, snappy energy and must-have vocal pitching regardless. An album closer if ever there was one.

The club’s owners say that a “new series of one-off standout shows and curated events” will fill up the free dates.
Saturdays are set to continue much in the same style as they always have: with a focus on drum’n’bass and techno oriented bookings. Similarly, the long-running WetYourSelf! parties will remain on the regular Sunday slot.

Christa Vi Releases New Electro-Pop Offering "Makeshift Happiness"
By Alex Brown - 29.11.16

The fiery-haired Australian-German has been chipping away on her most recent synth-pop offering for years. Makeshift Happiness is the result of studio sessions with Dan Brown (Massive Attack) and Andrew McDonnell (Petite Noir).
Currently living in London, the versatile singer has already gathered support from Paul Oakenfold, KissFM, Triple J and DJ Mag. Her colourful, origami-inspired album cover is a tribute to "the concept of creating something beautiful or functional out of something odrinary - a metaphor for making the best of life's hard knocks."

It seems that one of London's famous nightlife drawcards won't be shut down so easily. After a protracted public awareness campaign, Fabric has announced that it will reopen soon.
Listen & read on: Latest Fabric mix
The club has been in talks this week with the Islington council and Metropolitan police to reinstate its license. Judge Robin McPhee concluded that Fabric is fit to reopen under a new set of licensing conditions following the deaths of two 18-year-old clubbers.
One of the lawyers representing Fabric, Philip Kolvin QC, has stated that even before its license was revoked in September, Fabric "has always set about trying to lead the industry."
According to the police statement below, 32 new conditions are stipulated to which Fabric must comply, including the installation of a new ID scanning system, new guest searching procedures, changes to the club layout. Oh, and a lifetime ban for dealers and buyers of narcotics. The use of sniffer dogs has been ruled out after police attempted to enforce such action in late 2014.
Fabric will be made to pay the Islington council's legal costs out of the club's coffers and - importantly - NOT from the ongoing #saveculture and #savefabic campaigns, which raised in the region of £320,000. Kolvin also said that Fabric would start a welfare team alongside drug charity The Loop.
Fabric stated on their Facebook page: "We are hugely thankful to be able to confirm the news that we have won our licence back," they wrote. "We owe everything to our supporters. We really would not be here today without your unparalleled support and generosity. So many different people stepped up to put their voices to our cause, artists from all corners of the music community, fellow promoters who have put on huge events from us and clubbers from around the world who all united behind us."
Here's the joint statement in full:
On 25 June 2016 an 18 year old young man died in hospital after a night out at Fabric nightclub, from the effects of MDMA (Ecstasy). Six weeks later, on 6 August 2016, another 18 year old young man died in similar circumstances.
In both of these cases, the young men and their friends were able to conceal drugs on their person when entering Fabric, and get through the search and entry procedures without being detected. They were then able to purchase, and take, more drugs when inside Fabric.
These two tragic deaths were not the only drug-related deaths of young clubbers visiting Fabric. Since 2011 there have been a further 4 deaths.
On 12 August 2016 a sub-committee of the Authority decided to suspend Fabric's License pending the hearing of the Police's application. Then, on 6 September 2016, after a public hearing of the application, attended by Fabric, a sub-committee of the Authority decided to revoke Fabric's Licence.
The sub-committee concluded, on the evidence then before it, that a culture of drug use existed at Fabric which the existing management and security appeared incapable of controlling, and that a number of conditions on its Licence had not been complied with. It decided that the revocation of the Licence was both appropriate and proportionate in light of all the circumstances.
Fabric then exercised its statuary right to appeal to the magistrates' court, with a four day hearing of that appeal being due to start on 28 November 2016.
There have now been a number of meetings between Fabric's directors and senior management and the Authority and the Metropolitan Police. Fabric has offered many new conditions to be added to its Licence, all of which are designed to ensure a Zero Tolerance approach to drug possession, consumption and sale within the club. It has also developed a new and detailed ISO accredited Operations Manual setting out how compliance with these conditions is to be achieved, from the top to the bottom of its operation.
Fabric accepts that its procedures in relation to searching were insufficient, as were its procedures to prevent the consumption and dealing of drugs within the club itself. Fabric accepts that the Police acted reasonably in making the application for a review and that the Authority's sub-committee was fully entitled to revoke its Licence. Fabric repudiates the online abuse aimed at Committee members and Council staff and will permanently exclude anyone who has been found to be involved.
Fabric is committed to doing all it reasonably can to ensure that no more of its clubbers come to drug-related harm. It also recognises that there need to be, and will be, changes to its management structure and accountability.
The Authority welcomes Fabric's acceptance of all these matters. It is now satisfied that Fabric's directors and senior management understand precisely what has to be done to ensure that Fabric is a safe environment for young clubbers, and that Zero Tolerance to Drugs means precisely that. The measures to be implemented include:
- The use of a new I.D. scanning system on entry to the club
- Enhanced searching procedures and controls
- Covert surveillance within the club
- Life-time bans for anyone found in possession of drugs, whether on entry or within the club
- Life-time bans for anyone trying to buy drugs in the club
- Enhanced monitoring and external auditing for compliance against procedures
- Physical changes to the club, including improved lighting and additional CCTV provision
- A new Security Company
- Persons under 19 years of age shall not be permitted to be on the premises as a customer or guest from 2000 hours on a Friday until 0800 hours on the following Monday or on any day during the hours that the operators promote a Core Club Night.
In light of Fabric's acceptance that there have been failings, and given the commitment that its directors and management have shown by their development of the Operations Manual and acceptance of these new conditions, the Authority is now satisfied that the statutory licensing objectives may be met short of the revocation of the Premises Licence. It is for these reasons that it has decided not to oppose Fabric's appeal. Fabric Life will pay Islington's costs in these proceedings directly and not from the monies pledged by supporters.
For its part, Fabric understands and accepts that the additional conditions it has agreed to are meaningless unless operational practices ensure each of them is complied with. Its directors and management remain committed to ensuring compliance. They are committed to ensuring the safety of their patrons.
Fabric will not re-open until they believe they can comply with their new conditions.
Neither the Authority nor Fabric will be making any further statement in relation to this Appeal.
The exact reopening date has not been decided.
The follow up to French electronica artist Leon Inc.'s groundbreaking XLR8R-endorsed "Microfibre" will be made available on November 25th ahead of his debut album "Insert Disc". The second single "Kepler-62" (ft. JR827) was named after the star Kepler-62, which was discovered with two significantly Earth-like planets. "Kepler-62"'s punchy bass and craftily dated synth sounds are reminiscent of a cult classic movie from the 80s.
After creating a buzz with on XLR8R with his first single "Microfibre", Leon Inc. will release his first full-length album "Insert Disc" in early 2017 via Leon Records. The album is imagined as a total artwork, merging audio-visual components. Jeremy’s biggest project to date, Leon Inc. takes us onto what he describes as a “weird and wonderful journey”, painting a surrealist tongue-in-cheek concept using a vinyl pizza cutter for the cover, along with an ambitious microsite called “Leon Resort”, showing off web animations in sync with the LP tracks.
Since being introduced to artists such as Mirwais and William Orbit and Les Inrocks’ compilation “Une Rentre´e Electro” featuring the likes of Aphex Twin, LFO and M83 when he was 8 years old, Jeremy was truly fascinated and inspired. Drawing influence from the likes of Com Truise, Etienne De Crecy, Hudson Mohawke and LuckyMe Records, Leon Inc. comprise an in depth array and cross section of music, artwork and web design.
"Kepler-62's" hooky, melodic synth shapes, swirling arrangements and sinister edge wouldn't feel out of place as the soundtrack to an 80s cult classic movie or a familiar drive in a big city noir. Jeremy explains, "I produce a lot alone at night and Kepler-62 is definitely the most nocturnal track of the album. This feeling is well expressed by the web animation of the track on Leon Resort, with that midnight blue. As for the interpretation of the title, look at the sky while listening to the track tonight, and it will be yours."

The highly anticipated release of deadmau5's new album W:/2016ALBUM/, Joel Zimmerman took an afternoon to drop by the Halton police's 17th annual Toys for Tots Holiday Campaign in Toronto on the weekend.
Hamilton Community News reported that after seeing a tweet from the police announcing the Christmas toy drive in his community, Zimmerman rocked up at Oakville’s Canadian Tire with a shopping cart full of toys for last-minute donation. The Halton police the Salvation Army were understandably uplifted by the gesture.

"This is why we have such a broad range of artists guesting on our latest compilation. Portland-based electronic duo ECHOS will be releasing their self-titled debut EP, via Seeking Blue Records on the 14th October. ECHOS have worked with the likes of Illenium and Crywolf and garnered previous support from the likes of Mr Suicide Sheep, Indie Shuffle, Nest HQ, The Waxhole, Impose amongst others. Reaching over 20 million views on Youtube is a significant achievement for the young duo but just the beginning of ECHOS exciting future. ECHOS will be playing California's biggest NYE festival, Snowglobe alongside Flume, Odesza, Major Lazer and Rufus Du Sol.
Tal and Lexi met in 2013 whilst both releasing material via (EDM.com, formerly known as Dubstep.net) Within a few days they started making demos together and everything started to fall into place organically. They would have writing sessions through Skype, send demos back and forth through email, all the beginning stages of Echos' sounds. Lexi had just turned nineteen at the time and Tal was twenty one when he packed up his car and made the move from Santa Cruz to Portland. They knew that if they wanted to make this project work, they were going to have to work in person as they continued to build and find their sound. Nearly three and a half years laters they can proudly say they have created the purest and most raw versions of themselves musically. It took many life changes and experiences in order to articulate these thoughts and feelings into their music in the form of their debut self titled EP.
Check out video "Say It" here:
Sharing the restless romanticism and emotional depth of Tycho and Florence and the Machine, ECHOS draw on a diverse range of influences including Susie Suh, Robot Koch, Illenium as well as Daughter. ECHOS show exceptional lyrical and melodic mastery led by Lexi’s upfront, stirring and sultry vocals, brimming with intelligence and humanity. Lexi manages to tell a compelling story with such invention, melody and emotion all the while melancholic whilst soaring at the same time. Demanding to be loved and cutting to the core with latest single “Gold”, Lexi sings, “Your eyes say so much to me/ Your eyes say so/ Nobody knows who I am/ I've got intentions of gold/ With my plans”. Complimented perfectly by Tal’s achingly warm and dynamic production, he manages to coalesce compelling chords, ethereal soundscapes and wistful rhythms before building the track into a dramatic drum and epic choral section climax.
ECHOS and their self-titled debut EP IS due for release on the 14th October.
Upcoming shows:
26 October: ARCATA, The Jam
27 October: SANTA CRUZ, The Catalyst
28 October: SAN FRANCISCO, Rickshaw Stop

Bristol-based producer Galtier shares new EP “Myth Codes” out via Infinite Machine. The label has released records from the likes of WWINGS, Aphix and Ziur this year.
The 3 song EP (with 2 remixes) starts with the rhythmic work out “Chain,” with its deep hollow reverb and simple flute that come to act as motifs for the EP. The most playful of the triad, “Gold Bones” breaks a dembow over pan flutes before the leading siren and comforting pads carry us through. The final “Charm Complex” starts off as quite the haunting brute, before inviting in a eerily choir and our overarching flute—this time a direct nod to Herbie Hancock.
